Lap Chole
What is a Lap Chole?
Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy, also known as lap chole, is a minimally invasive procedure for the removal of a diseased gallbladder. Undergoing a lap chole procedure will stop the pain and treat the underlying infections that are caused by gallstones. If gallstones are left untreated, the associated pain and infections can get significantly worse and even lead to the gallbladder bursting – a potentially life-threatening event. Removing the gallbladder will stop the pain and treat the infections caused by gallstones.
Dr. Peery's Advice
“If you develop gallstones, the most effective treatment is often surgery to remove the gallbladder. Gallbladder surgery is very successful, safe, and provides a permanent solution to the problem. Unlike medications, which are not very effective and carry the risk of gallstones coming back, surgery offers a lasting resolution. This is why surgery is often the preferred choice, especially if you are experiencing symptoms that affect your quality of life.”
